Established in 1947 by a government initiative, to improve standards of thatching in counties, the Devon and Cornwall Association have an agreed set of standards and specifications and is still a non-profit Association. Its aim, to ensure all thatching works done by approved members is of a high standard.

Quarterly meetings are held to discuss thatching eg:- Building Regulations, materials supply and quality, fire prevention. The Association also promotes thatching via demonstrations at shows/other local events.

They are pleased that members can give homeowners peace of mind and confidence in their abilities.
